There are many sights to see and many locations that are pretty well known to tourists. There is Lake Tahoe and the Truckee river flowing through the city. This location is a rather famous resort built around the great Rose mountain. Located around 20 miles away from Downtown Reno, the Mount Rose Ski Resort is the highest resort in the area, with Mount Rose standing over 8000 feet. Built for skiers of all levels, the resort provides ample opportunities to all kinds of ski enthusiasts, from hardened veterans to beginners.

The natural landscape surrounding the place is quite beautiful in itself, and one can really enjoy skiing down the serene white slopes of snow. The resort tends to get a bit crowded during the high season, so maybe you can opt  to come here during other times to enjoy a peaceful ski with your family and friends.

This location is perhaps one of the most famous locations of Reno. While not technically in the city, Lake Tahoe is still one of the most popular points of interest for tourists to Reno. Located around 40 miles away from Reno, it is known to be one of the most breathtaking locations in all the US.

The lake is filled with azure waters and is seen to be nestled around by some high mountains. Lake Tahoe is a major tourist destination and therefore features many things to do while you are here. There are hiking trails as well as beaches with white sands. You can enjoy the pleasures of boating at this huge lake and even enjoy fishing while you are here at Lake Tahoe.

The hiking trails around Lake Tahoe are filled with greenery and will take you to some of the most beautiful places you can find. While you are in Reno next time, be sure to take a visit to Lake Tahoe otherwise your trip to Reno is going to be incomplete.

If you visit Reno then you are definitely going to gamble. There are a number of casinos here at Reno and Eldorado is certainly one of the more famous ones. The casino has been running since the 1970s and has seen the history of Reno standing tall. There are many things to do within the casino, like slot machines, sports betting, poker and other table games like blackjack and roulette.

The casino is complete with bars, cafes and restaurants to make you stay here a fulfilling and satisfying experience. The place is known to be a premium Reno city hotspot, with it being the venue for musical concerts, events and other attractions taking place in the city.

Located around downtown Reno city is the river walk along the Truckee river. The cultural center of the city, the river walk is home to some of the finest art galleries and restaurants Reno city has to offer. While you are here, take one of the many guided tours that will be offered to you. Be sure to visit the Wine walk and sample wines at the many wine shops there.

Opened and running since 1931, the Nevada Museum of Art is one of the oldest places in Reno. After a recent renovation in the early 2000s, the museum has come to level itself with the modern world. There are four areas of interest in the museum, all containing photos, paintings, sculptures, and more.

In this museum, there are static and rotating exhibitions along with a sculpture garden. There are guided tours here as well that you can take if you wish. While you find yourself within the Nevada Museum of Art, be sure to check out the suspended staircase overlooking the city skyline.

There are many extremely famous cars here, one of which is the Mercury series 9CM from 1949, the same one driven by James Dean in the movie ‘Rebel without a Cause’.

Idlewild Park

Find the Idlewild Park in Reno, Nevada, a park located by the Truckee River. One of the most iconic hotspots in the area, the Idlewild park is a beloved Reno attraction. Spanning over 49 acres, it is known for its rose garden and duck ponds.

Wilbur D. May Center

A museum and a botanical garden, the Wilbur D. May center is located in the Rancho San Rafael Regional park. Take a trip into nature to escape the bustle of Reno city, and come to this place which features a museum filled with the personal effects of Wilbur D. May. This rancher was quite prominent in the Reno area in the early 20th century.

He travelled the world and brought back many items that are now on display in the museum. The arboretum and the botanical garden span over 12 acres and are filled with English style flower gardens and more. The Songbird garden and Evans Creek are some of the hotspots in the center.

Sierra Safari Zoo

The Sierra Safari Zoo has been open since the 1980s and is the largest zoo in Nevada. Find this zoo in north Reno. It features animals from all over the world and also houses animals indigenous to the region. There are themed areas in the zoo containing animals which you can take time to visit. Find reptiles, big cats and apes in the zoo that also features an aquarium and dolphinarium on site.

Fleischmann Planetarium

Located on the campus of Reno’s University of Nevada, the Fleischmann Planetarium is open to the public and offers many interactive exhibits on space and the solar system. The dome theater of the planetarium features daily shows for visitors to help them learn more about space.

There are films here on space and galaxies that you must check out. You will learn a lot on your trip to the Fleischmann Planetarium. This place is really great for kids while all other ages will also definitely enjoy it. You can enroll for a star gazing program here to gather some informative knowledge about the night sky.

Peavine Peak

Named after the pea vines that grow here, the Peavine peak is the highest point of the Peavine mountains. Reno, Nevada is a city that is nestled in nature, and this mountain peak is here to prove it. It is one of the most iconic and breathtaking sites in the Reno region.

The area around the peak is known to be a hotspot for off road vehicles and there are hiking opportunities here while you are at it. Animal Ark

This is a 38 acre location located in North Reno and is rather a sanctuary for animals than being a zoo. The animals in Animal Ark are the ones which are unable to live in the wild, and live in a semi natural habitat. There are bears here which you can see on your trip if you are lucky.

The Ark has a information center that provides visitors with info on the animals that live here. The focus of Animal Ark is on animal and habitat preservation, and as such the sanctuary is filled with animals who have survived here.

Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

Another one of the more famous casinos in the city of Reno. It was built in 1972, and is one of the earliest casinos and luxury hotels in the city. With a casino floor spanning over 60000 feet, this place was build sparing no expense and certainly lives up to all expectations you might have here.

There are many games to play here, like poker, blackjack, roulette and slot machines. The Atlantis is designed to garner a certain lost in the sea aesthetic, and is a rather beautiful place to be at. Your stay at Atlantis can potentially go by in a flurry, as the games are never ending and extremely enjoyable. The Pyramid lake is the sink of the Truckee river, and is one of the largest lakes in the state of Nevada. It was historically a part of the great Lake Lahontan, a huge inland sea that covered all of Nevada. Depending on the skies, the color of Pyramid lake changes from blue to gray. The lake is also surrounded by rock formations.

This lake makes its way into the history of the Paiute tribes through their myths and stories. Come and see the museum and the visitor’s center to know more about the Paiute. There are many things to do here, like fishing, swimming, kayaking and more. This is one of the most beautiful locations in all of the US and is home to the Cui-ui fish, a species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
