Layton is a wonderful place to escape to for a vacation in Utah. This city is a part of Davis County in Utah, It is also a part of the Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. This region is located in very close proximity to Salt Lake City in the United States of America. 

Due to its proximity to Salt Lake City, Layton is also home to Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve. This has made Layton one of the most frequently visited cities in Utah. There are several unique and local places that you can visit in Layton during your visit. It will surely make for a comfortable and relaxing vacation.

The Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve area is home to the gorgeous wetlands of Utah. This place is more than 4400 acres wide. There are many unique places in the preserve that you can stop by. 

Some of these places include the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, the Antelope Island State Park Causeway, and more. The lake has become of the most essential feeding grounds for birds that come here from all over the world. 

As of now, the lake is home to more than six million migratory birds that visit the region. These birds come from various regions like the Arctic region, South America and Central America. Birdwatchers can hop on the boardwalk here to catch a glimpse of several exotic species. 

The boardwalk is located in close proximity to the freshwater marshes of the reserve. Snowy Plovers, American Avocets, waterfowl, and stilts are among the most popularly seen birds here.

The Layton Hills Mall is one of the largest indoor shopping areas in Utah. It was built in 1980 in the region. The mall used to support three unique and local department stores, including the Zions Cooperative Mercantile Institution, Auerbach, and Castleton. 

In addition to these, the mall today also has exciting shops like Dick’s Sporting Goods, J.C. Penny, and a hundred more options! The Food Gallery is located on the uppermost floor and has many eateries you can explore. The SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium might just be the highlight of your trip to this mall.

If you are traveling with children, worry no more! The mall comes with its own Weber State University-operated children’s play zone. You can explore the mall while your kids spend some time in the play area.

This winery comes with its very own nano-distillery. They are able to produce more than 16-30 barrels of brandy every year. Other than brandy, they also sell liquors and spirits. Their products are completely organic and natural, made without any artificial components. You must visit this place for a rejuvenating evening with your friends and family.

The Adams Canyon trail is a very picturesque hiking trail located a few miles out of Layton. You can reach the trail easily when in Layton. This trail is also connected to the North Fork of Holms Creek Trail that will take you through the scrub oak and white pine region!

The trail begins with a jolly walk in nature. You will be able to breathe in spectacular views of the valley before you enter the canyon region. Once you arrive at the magnanimous canyon, you will have to walk up and down the adventurous routes. 

During your walk in the canyon, you will witness many stream crossings. You might have to undertake some rock climbing as well! Do not worry, there will be experts to guide you through the entire journey. You will be in completely safe hands. 

You might think the highlight of a trek at the canyon will have to be the exciting visit to the mountains. However, it has more to offer. The Vietnam war memorial is in Washington D.C., however, a replica for the same was also created for Layton, Utah. This memorial is 80 percent of the size of the original. The unique story behind the original memorial is that the architect wished to remember now the war but the names of all the people who lost their lives in the war.

As a result, the original wall, as well as this replica, contains all 58 thousand names for all the Americans who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The wall spreads across the length of 360 feet across the Layton Commons Park.

It took a total of five years to build this wall. The local community has participated in events such as fundraising and construction to make sure the replica comes alive. Every Saturday, crowds full of hundreds of people come here to participate in the dedication ceremony. This is a free place you can visit during your stay.

Dartside is a fun indoor space for those of us who like playing games. There are many options for indoor activities here, You can take up the local favorite- ax throwing. You will be able to rent all tools required for the game sessions.
